Zimbabwe

Miss Bradshaw didn't always live in New Zealand. She grew up in a country called Zimbawe. She showed us pictures of some of the food she use to eat when she was little - flying ants!! Ewww...

Let's Dance!

We were so lucky to have Louise come in yesterday and teach the Middle Magic team how to dance the 'macachino'. The 'macachino' is a dance from the Dominican Republic. It was so fun to give it a try.

Butan

Inrad came to see us today. He is from a country called Butan which is between China and India. Inrad came to New Zealand 3 years ago, after living in a Refugee Camp in Butan for 18 years. It was fabulous to see their national dress and to watch 3 members of his community dance for us.

Let's make the world

The Middle Magic started their new unit "The different cultures that make up "our world" yesterday. First we had to make the world that we live in so we can learn all about the cultures within "our world".

With our Learning Partners, we blew up balloons and covered them with newspaper and newsprint. It was a very sticky job. Next we have to paint them and work out where to put the countries.

Special delivery for LC6

Today we were lucky enough to have Andy the postman come in and speak to us. Andy is one of the 32 posties who works in the Manawatu area delivering our mail.

He delivers approx 1000 letters a day!

He told us how important it is to make sure we address our envelopes correctly and that we need to put a return address on the letters.

If a letter box is not big enough for the parcel Andy has to deliver he leaves a card in the letterbox to ask them to pick the parcel up from the Manawatu Mail Centre.

He also has to leave a card if there is a big dog and he doesn’t want to go in the grounds. He has already been bitten by a dog 3 times. Ouch!

Class Treaty

We signed our class treaty and have it displayed on our wall. Come and take a look at the expectations we have set for our class.

Homefun

A reminder to all children - Homefun is due at school on Friday. I'll take a look at what you've read over the week and you will have a Buddy Spelling test. I hope you've worked hard this week. Mrs Kenyon
